Who Knew ...

being so frugal was catching on.  Nearly 800,000 people cut their cable subscriptions in the U.S. for various reasons including:  Trash coming  out of Hollywood, price, advertisements, more reading time, renting or downloading Netflix movies (a favorite in our home) ... While not an overwhelming number of cable subscribers ... it is a trend and will only increase.  How about you ... are you still tethered to your TV connection?

No way! We'd rather read than
sit in front of a TV--cable
or not.

It's been about a year since we cut the cable at our house. I'd be lying if I said I NEVER miss it, but it's getting to be less and less so. There are only 2 shows that I'd like to watch that are not on Hulu. I enjoy watching what I want to watch when I want to watch it, and with whom, rather than arranging my life around a television broadcast schedule.

We are big Netflix streamers too, and between Netflix and Hulu, we spend quite enough time watching mindless things, thank you very much. :)

Incidentally, the two shows I miss are The Pacific (HBO series going on right now) and Big Bang Theory. Other than that, everything is on Hulu.

WV: cattype. That's what happens when my cats park their furry butts right in the middle of my laptop keyboard.

We have regular t.v., no cable or satellite. There really isn't much to watch most days.

We never had TV connection. We only watch Survivor. We both love to read and of course have our own computers so are in them too and we talk a lot.

Still tethered. Am I still your friend?

We don't go to the movies.
We rarely, rarely go on vacation.
Cable TV is our entertainment.
My husband would be lost without TV. I prefer the computer and the radio.

Have never had cable. We do have netflix, though, and Hubby downloads TV shows for us to watch. We watch when convenient for us, not when the network puts it on. Right now, those TV shows are building up... will have stuff to watch over the summer (I'm a teacher, so summers off). We spend plenty of time on the computers, though, enough to make up for not having cable.

Were it up to me, we'd be without TV long time ago. We don't get Netflix or anything similar.
We have pay TV 18 channels sending the same crap. (Is that a no word too? My English is longtime outdated.
So many of the words we learned in school have gotten a filthy double meaning.)
We simply buy DVDs to get something worth while to look at late evenings. (Which is the time we sit down to lax.)
Horrible series are being sent on all channels that late.
I simply won't have it.
Mrs. Mac, you are a star example, and deserve an extra star in your flag.

I watch most of my programs from the computer (hulu and netflix). We are in the process of saving for a roku box to stream from the television then we will cut the cable also.

Haven't had television since moving here 14 years ago. Too far out to get a signal, & no desire to hook up to cable. We do Netflix on occasion, more during the winter months. We prefer reading.

Never had cable or satellite. I would rather spend my time hoeing corn and potatoes.

Spent most of my life without much TV and I did just fine. We got satellite TV about 8 years ago and never watched it enough to justify the monthly fee. So a few weeks back, we cut service to the most basic deal which is about 20 channels, 90% of which we don't watch. I wanted to cut-it altogether, but hubby wants to watch FOX. I try to explain you can get all of the content on their website without all of the repeat-commercials. We're gonna re-evaluate in a month and take it from there. Personally, life is better without TV. I'll show him the way....

Funny how we "find" each other, isn't it? We've never had cable.
