New Raised Beds .. and Family Life

We've been busy at the Thrifty Garden Home with installing our raised beds.  Everything is set for the garden fence to be put up on the already installed fence posts tomorrow.  Family life has taken over gardening plans as our youngest was being checked for leukemia after a scary white blood count during a recent out patient dental visit.  This crisis has passed as he does not have leukemia .. but still wondering why such a low count .. a time of worry has passed .. although always lingering.

The garden is sprouting .. potatoes are poking through the soil .. raspberry canes are green, the strawberry bed planted a few years ago is beginning bud with berries, asparagus is being picked here and there from a two year old bed, and the chard that managed to survive winter is about ready to be picked.  Most everything has been planted .. except for corn and pumpkins .. We have had nights in the 40's .. and should they drop, I have means to cover the tender plants.  What's growing in your garden?

Enjoying your blog. I was just tonight worrying that I was so behind on my garden. Your post put it in perspective...so glad your son's health crisis has passed.

So glad to hear your son is well. Your garden beds are perfect..plant when you are ready, some things will do well, others won't...it's the nature of the garden.

Your garden planters look wonderful, will be awesome when they are full and lush. I can't wait. We had snow yesterday, you know, just when your hoping the last frost has come cause your itching to plant something.

I am so glad your youngest does not have leukemia! whew, that had to be scary. God Bless!

Life is a balance of the good and the bad - without the latter how would we really appreciate the good?

So happy that Nathan is OK - that is the most important thing. Gardens can be replanted, lives cannot.

By the way, we found one of your moose tromping through our garden yesterday...I sent him back up the hill towards your place.:)

Mrs. Mac - glad your son does not have leukemia - how scary that must have been for you, but praise God that he doesn't.
In my garden onions, some herbs, pumpkins, zucchini, and tomatoes are growing, but not producing yet!

Garden beds look beautiful. I too am glad that your son is alright and remember what I said in my email that God is in control.

Oh....and I'll take some raspberries, please! :o)

Very glad that your son does not have leukemia. I hope you have more answers soon. You must be excited to have the raised beds finished, thinking of all you'll grow there.

I'm glad to hear it's a negative for leukemia. Must be difficult to have the mystery lingering. Looks like the little guy is dealing with things in good spirits though!

And the raised beds look fantastic!
