Gardening To Alleviate ....

STRESS!  Hubby and I were at the hospital for a good part of the day.  Our precious granddaughter, Rowan, is having major heart surgery as I type.  After four hours we had to return home to pick up our youngest son from the bus stop.  As soon as I got in the door and let out my daughter's dogs that we're watching, I headed to the garden to dig in the dirt to plant three blueberry bushes.  I don't know about you, but I find gardening such a great stress reducer.  Now that the berry bushes have found spots in the yard .. maybe I'll go plant some pumpkin seeds as baby is still in surgery.  I just may have enough stress to finish planting EVERYTHING!

Ohhh my....what a long stressful day for you all. I have prayed through the night and all of today. I agree, gardening is such a stress reliever and so therapeutic. If you run out of beds there you are welcome to come here and help me landscape the backyard. Aren't I a good friend to offer you the heavy work here haha.Seriously though, God is good and so many prayers are being said for all of you and that beautiful baby girl. Take care and once again let me know if you need anything at all.

I think you're doing the right thing preoccupying yourself. I'm sure everything will go just fine and she will be a fast healer. With loving thoughts.

I can imagine that digging in dirt for awhile was a (temporary) diversion.... I prayed when I read this & will look forward to hearing that she came through surgery and that it was successful. This is tough stuff - but nothing is impossible with God!

I have been within arms reach of my computer all day with the exception of two hours when I attended Olivia's last day of school picnic. I keep checking for updates...and praying...and checking...and praying...and checking...and praying! I believe - beyond a shadow of a doubt that Ro is going to be just fine - that she will pull through this and heal quickly --but at the same time, I'm stressed in the waiting. Wait. Me? Stressed? Whoa - I can't EVEN imagine the feelings in your heart! Or in Katie's...well...as I am able to relate to being the Mom of a critically ill little baby girl...but it's so long ago and far away for me - as Olivia will be 10 this month. ...Just know that my heart is linked to yours - and Katie's...and the rest of your family - as you wait on God to do the miraculous! And He will! :) I'm sending a hug! ...you could figure out how to make those pear/walnut muffins... ;) Love you!!!

When I got home last night at 1 AM from the hospital .. I realized how dirty I was from gardening. We got an urgent call in the early evening to return to the hospital .. I didn't have time to change clothes .. dirt .. bread baking flour all over me .. must have been a frightful sight!

Baby's improving somewhat .. still very critical. But her bodily functions are working now (kidneys .. brain function) .. and her little heart is pumping on it's own .. even though she's still on an ecmo (some type of by-pass machine). We're taking these signs as a turn for the better .. but are still not out of the woods. God is in control and we are in awe of all the out pouring of prayer around the world. Thank you!

I see now what was going on. I am so sad that she apparently took a turn for the worse. What a precious little girl! I am saying a prayer for you and your family.
