A Day In The Life

onion-dill hamburger buns
... of Mrs. Mac:

7:00 AM    ~ It's Saturday so I slept in a bit.  Up after the birds this morning.  Got dressed and checked

8:00 AM    ~ Made breakfast for Nathan .... homemade French toast and country sausage patties, with
                      raspberry syrup .. milk, coffee

9:00 AM    ~ Cleaned out the upright freezer in preparation for the summer 'marathon' of food to be stored.

10:00 AM   ~ Washed a gazillion dishes (just ask my Pop about how dishes multiply in our home;)
sourdough sandwich bread
11:00 AM   ~ Mixed the dough for onion/dill hamburger buns

12:00          ~ Mixed the dough for two loaves sourdough bread

1:00 PM    ~ Picked herbs for drying, and sugar peas to blanch and freeze

2:00 PM    ~ Baked hamburger buns

sugar snap peas
 3:00 PM    ~ Baked bread

4:00 PM    ~ Prepped dinner:  made tossed salad from garden greens and homemade cherry vinaigrette
                     dressing.

5:00 PM    ~ started campfire to use for cooking dinner
Grandpa Jake's Campfire Cooker .. see link below

6:00 PM    ~ Cooked chicken and baked beans outdoor

7:00 PM    ~ Started washing up the dinner dishes.

8:00 PM    ~ A little computer time ... then I'm going to sit and knit a dishcloth.

If you think I lead an exciting life, you're wrong ;)    ... My life is very mundane ... but very fulfilling.  Working at home is satisfying and fills my day with meaning.  Taking care of my family is THEE most important job I've every had.

If you'd like to share what a 'day in the life of (YOU) is like, post about a typical day and leave a comment so others (including myself) can visit your blog and peek into your day.

Mrs. Mac,
Your day is busy with all things to take care of your loving family. You know that taking care of family is like having 2 full time jobs.

Onion dill hamburger buns, just looking at them makes me hungry. I've made the buns before but would have never thought about spicing it up with onion and dill together. I could snatch one of those buns on the counter right now and have it with a cup of coffee. I bet I would be in heaven with every bite :-)

I love that you have a fire going outside for cooking campside. I wish we didn't have a burn ban. Have a great evening.

This made me think back to something my neighbor once said to me -- I can't tell ya what I've been doing all day, but I know I don't have time to sit around. So true of all housewives. There are days--literally, where I don't sit down until 6 pm. And then there are days like yesterday---so hot and humid-UGH. I sat around like a slug all day, under the ceiling fan.....

A busy day. I totally agree with you....looking after your family IS the most important thing you can do. How lucky they are with all the things you make from scratch and with love. Hope you have a lovely week. xxoo

What a FINE day you had!
Ours was not a "usual" Saturday (but then again, what's "usual"????)!

The unexpected pleasure was traveling to the home of a former neighbor (about 30 minutes away) and helping her stabilize a gazebo that the storm had taken down a few weeks ago. She was actually wanting help taking it apart, but when my husband saw it, he came up with a way to repair and stabilize it. I think she was a happy camper :)

It felt good to complete this project -- and as a side benefit, I got a tour of her home and garden :)

Dear Mrs. Mac, you are a clever home maker in so many fields. I think you are living a challenging and fulfilled life where you get to use every talent God have given you, and even develop more.
I also think you must feel kind of happy when the projects you are embarking on are so successful.
I love the header of Mr. Mac.

Still praying for you and esp. for Jacob and Nathan.

Mr Mac

Sounds like a very busy, and fulfilling day and the sourdough bread looks yummy!.
My day yesterday was a little upside down as I was at work doing a 10 hr nightshift, went to bed at 7am Sunday then woke up at 12noon ish. I did nightshift number 2 that night. We did enjoy Sunday 'lunch' before I went to work, a small piece of Rib Beef from our local butcher cooperative, yummy. I will post again with a better day when I am actually awake in the day on a day off and getting some housestuff done. You and the family are in my thoughts and prayers and hoping things are getting a little easier.
God bless

Enjoyed this sweet peak into your day. You are living a wonderful life fulfilling God's will for you as loving wife, mother, and grandmother. I love taking care of my family too and am really missing both of my big boys these days. Wish they were both still small. I love to clean and keep house but cooking is not my favorite thing.
Blessings~
