The Heat Is On

tomatoes grown from seed ... starting to take off
The garden is finally getting some much needed heat.  Today it's in the mid 90F's causing the tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, melons and onions to grow.  This is the first week since last summer with hot temps.

I know most of the country is sweltering ... and some people have lost their power due to storms.  It takes our area quite a long time to warm up, so we get a little excited.  My sympathies if you are suffering from the heatwave.

So far we are enjoying spring crops:  Lettuces, peas, strawberries, herbs and flowers.  That's about it.  What's growing in your garden?

Mrs. Mac,

Your tomatoes seeds have really taken off. It's great news that your area is starting to warm up and the vegetables and melons are growing. I'll bet you'll have a bountiful harvest too. :-)
Right now, we are just praying the tomatoes and green peppers make it through the heat so we can have a nice harvest. Then we will wait a couple of weeks before starting our fall planting.
Have a great evening!

The garden is looking so FANTASTIC. It's a great time of season. Still plodding through winter happily enough here but Craig had to plant something for the sake of it at the weekend he he!

For the most part, we've been at nice temps too. We had one bout of heat/humidity last week and it was just what the corn and melons and tomatoes needed. I despise hot weather, but love those veggies! Its'a trade-off...LOL!

Glad you have not suffered from the heat, but that your gardens are thriving.

The heat wave from the East and Mid West has pushed it's way to my direction, too. We're expecting at least a week of 100+ temps. I think the tomatoes and watermelon will be very happy. Your garden looks terrific! Don't you think daisies are the happiest of flowers?

Your garden is lovely. I only have a few plants in pots on the patio.
Brought in a tomatoe and a few cucumbers today!

My garden is not as far on as yours, and we are suffering from the excessive rain we have had this year. We just haven't been able to get out there and work on the ground, or get the seeds in, so everything has been delayed, and when the weather is fine, we make a mad dash to do stuff outdoors! More heavy rain is forecast for this week...
I have chilli plants, tomatoes and cucumber plants in the greenhouse, and there are French beans and lettuces, runner beans and potatoes in the garden, so we do have some produce coming on - we ate the first lettuce from the garden last night!

We returned from vacation to find strawberries and RASPBERRIES! I just planted 10 raspberry bushes this year that a friend dug up on his property and gave us. I'm excited that they're already producing!
