Today's Madness ..

... as in the domestic arts:

  • Finish up beef stock for our freezer supply.
  • Start a big pot of chicken stock to have on hand for Thanksgiving dinner.
  • Bake loaves of 7-grain bread.
  • Bake rustic dinner rolls.
  • Bake an apple cake.
  • Bake up a rather large pumpkin for breads and roast its seeds
Today it's snowing outside.  Everything inside looks so colorful compared against the window scenes of black and white.

Last night our wet laundry was hung on a dryer rack in front of the stove, while sugar pie pumpkins were baking in a make shift oven on top.

House cleaning today includes changing the sheets, cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming the floors.  When hubby asked what I had planned for the day as he went to sleep this morning after working all night, I don't think he gave it much thought when I said 'housework' .... being a full time homemaker is non stop.  I hit the pillow last night at 9:30 to be up by 5:00 this morning.  How in the world did the vision of a homemaker sitting around all day eating bon bons ever transpire?

What's on your domestic to-do list?

I'm not sure where the idea or vision came from that house wives just sit around eating bon bons.
My domesticated to do list for today:
1. Make homemade ground beef soup for dinner tonight.
2. Make homemade rolls.
3. Wash and put away the dishes
4. Make a Chia Tea mix for a Christmas gift.
5. Wash out the bird cage.
6. Vacumn the house.
7. Run to the post office.
8. Pay a couple of bills.
9. Mop kitchen floor.
10. Dust.

A brief list of things I've already accomplished. There of course are more things that need to be done.

Great post! I love your photos.

Today I did the grocery shopping.
Did some dusting and vacuuming.
Washed and put away dishes, still have more to do from supper.
Made a pot of potato/chicken broth/ garlic soup with milk and a 4 blend cheese mix near the end.

Tomorrow will be a chicken in the crockpot. Perhaps a loaf of oatmeal bread done in the bread machine. Maybe some baked donuts.

There's gardening to do, since it's a 365 day a year happening down here.

Hugs to you Mrs. Mac.

Every day is filled with the things to do to maintain a loving home and caring for my family and I wouldn't have it any other way. All I ever wanted was to be a wife and mother and the good Lord granted me that. I won't complain when the list of chores seems endless because I enjoy every aspect of being a homemaker. I just try to divide it all up and not do everything in one day.

Usually I have a long list of things I'd like/need to get done, and if I get even one of those done I'm happy.
Today though after taking my son to school, I had a nice long chat with my parents in the UK, followed by a coffee and a homemade amaretti biscuit (the biscuits were a delicious gift by a work colleague). Then since it's late Spring here, I've been outside planting veg and weeding. It's very hot though, so I've been coming inside to escape the heat of the sun. No housework today apart from a bit of washing.
I bet your house smells great with all that baking going on!

2. Cleaning the baths--UGH!
3. Run errands
4. Purchase a new flag, the wind
done mine in last night!
5. Finish costumes for children to
present a traditional
Thanksgiving skit following the
'big church' services Sunday
morning.
6. Start getting packages together
that must be mailed before
Christmas.
7. Buy last minute items for

Child shoe boxes.
8. Should wash windows, NOT going

Today is the hubby's day home so he has the domestic to do list while I am at work! LOL Clean basement and get exercise equipment in place, take out trash, wash dishes, fix supper and put away laundry. I love having a husband who jumps in and takes care of normal chores when he's home (except cleaning bathrooms, he's not quite there yet).

The eating bonbons thing is a running joke around here. Dare I say it was a man that invented that one?! So far, the list today includes change sheets, do laundry, vacuum, get tires put on car, car inspection, go to DMV, make soap delivery, pick up a few groceries... haven't thought about dinner menu yet.
